Public Notice for Engineering Technician (Direct Hire)

TO QUALIFY AT THE FV-F (FG/GS-9 AND BELOW) LEVEL: You must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG/GS-4 level. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized Experience may include but is not limited to: experience analyzing, modifying, repairing, and testing complex types of mechanical components and equipment; applying knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering technician work, i.e., maintaining and using a variety of test equipment; and/or interpreting diagrams. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics gained from an accredited college or university. OR Combination of education and experience may be qualifying for this position. TO QUALIFY AT THE FV-G (FG/GS-10/11) LEVEL: You must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FV-F (FG/GS-9 and below) level. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized Experience may include but is not limited to: experience installing, maintaining, operating, and testing duties on complex projects or systems; troubleshooting and repairing equipment/machinery; determining feasibility and method of modifying test equipment to meet special test requirements; and preparing reports to present conclusions and recommendations.
