<p>As Marqeta’s <strong>Counsel, Commercial </strong>you will be an important member of Marqeta’s Commercial Legal Team and primary partner to our vendor management team.  As Counsel, Commercial, you will provide legal and business advice on a variety of agreements, including vendor, sales and partnership agreements, and will help improve Marqeta’s contracting processes and procedures.  You will work closely with other in-house attorneys and outside counsel in providing best-in-class legal services to Marqeta’s quickly growing business.  You will build strong relationships across the entire company and will have leadership visibility with Marqeta’s cross-functional teams and leaders on legal matters relating to Marqeta’s customers, partners and vendors. We’d love for you to join us!</p> <p><strong>The Impact You’ll Have</strong></p> <ul> <li>Be a core member of Marqeta’s in-house team of attorneys and support the negotiation of agreements with Marqeta’s vendors   </li> <li>Work closely with cross-functional Marqeta internal sales, partnership, product, and operational colleagues to support customer and partnership agreements </li> <li>Support Marqeta’s expansion by partnering with cross-functional teams in sales, product, compliance, finance to help sell Marqeta’s products and services</li> <li>Work collaboratively across the Legal, Regulatory and Compliance team on cross-functional priorities and initiatives</li> <li>Collaborate on the development of agreement templates and playbooks for the Commercial Legal Team to drive scale, cross-functional efficiencies, and offer creative solutions where appropriate</li> <li>Provide practical legal advice to the business and develop strong working relationships across the Company with cross-functional peers and other business stakeholders</li> </ul> <p><strong>Who You Are</strong></p> <ul> <li>3-6 years of experience in commercial contracts, preferably with experience at both a top law firm and in house</li> <li>Industry experience in FinTech, payments, financial services/banking and/or software technology</li> <li>Working knowledge of the regulatory landscape in the payments and issuing space in the US</li> <li>Experience using AI tools to work more effectively and efficiently</li> <li>A keen sense of ownership and the ability to independently drive complex projects to completion on tight timelines in a fast-moving, high-performing environment</li> <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work on teams and independently; ability to drive accountability and influence outcomes</li> <li>The ability to challenge and be challenged both internally and with clients in a constructive and respectful way</li> <li>Advanced problem solving skills, i.e., the ability to quickly digest a problem, evaluate various options/solutions and empower yourself and others to deliver</li> <li>Highly responsive, customer focused and meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment</li> <li>JD degree and member in good standing of a State Bar</li> </ul> <p><strong>Typical Process</strong></p> <ul> <li>Application submission</li> <l
